History

About Us

History

1997 The company was founded to create a machine shop manufacturing cell with leading technology to support the defense, communications, electronics and medical markets.
2000 Acquisition of the Saragraff Company, Wilkinsburg, PA. Founded by Mr. William J. Uptegraff, the company supplied precision tool and die services to Westinghouse.
2001 Accepted as a member in the Electro-Optics Alliance, an organization formed to advance Navy / DoD critical electro-optics manufacturing technology.
2002 Construction of 5,000 sq. ft. company facility in Cross Creek, PA under the National Industrial Security Program DoD 5220.22M. Fully secure facility with 24/7 monitoring.
2003 Acquisition of first, six axis CNC Swiss machine with bar feeder and CAM software package.
2005 Expansion of metrology lab with RAM Optical Vision measuring System certified to ISO/IE C17025.
2006 Established as an OEM supplier to the laser photonics industry serving the telecommunications, oil field and military C4ISR markets.
2007 Purchase of 18,000 sq. ft. Atlasburg, PA commercial facility.
2008 Selected as an OEM supplier to the leading DoD night vision scope manufacturer.
2009 The original company, APEX Design, Inc. founded in 1997 was reorganized as APEX CNC Swiss, Inc. after a fraudulent employee forced the company into bankruptcy closing the Latrobe, PA plant.
2010 Acquisition of first Fanuc Robodrill, high speed VMC with pallet changer to support the creation of an advanced machining applications department.
2011 Acquisition of first Hardinge 51mm super precision lathe from a leading orthopedic manufacturer.
2012 Established applications lab for the advancement of micro machining for MAV’s and medical applications.
